Adding Color to my Summer Porch

I love puttering around in my yard! The last few weeks have been hectic! I have been busy weeding, mowing, and getting my garden ready for the summer. I have been basking in the glory of warmer temperatures and beautiful sunshine!
I love adding summer colors to my front porch!

Summer annuals provide the opportunity to add gorgeous color to any corner of your porch instantly!

Fragrant pink Dianthus looks beautiful inside a black metal plant stand next to the front door:

In addition to using them as candle holders, lanterns make pretty planters and add interest to your front porch.

The blue lobelia contrasts prettily with the white lantern:

I placed the potted lobelia inside this burlap cinch bag found at Walmart.

Loving the contrast in color and texture between the delicate blue lobelia and the burlap bags.

Next, I added a big fluffy burlap bow to the top of the lantern:

Evergreens in urns sit on both sides of my front door:

Another plant stand filled with colorful annuals sits on the other side of the door.

I love planting geraniums in my flower beds and planters.

Vibrant pink geraniums in pretty blue clay pots scream summer to me:

Pretty pink stocks

and cascading verbenas mixed with yellow daisies:

Burlap Bag Planter

Hi, there!
I found these burlap bags in the garden section of Walmart. They have a drainage hole inside and make wonderful containers for plants, either planting directly or placing a potted plant inside.

I love the texture of the burlap and how it contrasts with the greenery of the fern! And the handles make it so convenient to transport it anywhere .

For now it is sitting right next to our front door on the porch along with the evergreen in the urn and the geranium in the metal plant stand.
On the other side of the front door is another urn planted with an arborvitae evergreen:

Against the stone facade of the house, the combination of the greenery and annuals looks beautiful:

This is a view of my front porch from the curb:

A row of taller arborvitae evergreens make a natural privacy fence from the road. Morning sun bathes the evergreen trees:

A view of the pillared light post from the porch:

The pink impatiens contrast beautifully with the yellowish green of the landscaping bushes:

August is upon us

and few more weeks left to enjoy the beauty of summer annuals

before we bid adieu to the glorious days of summer

Container Gardening on the Deck

Follow on Bloglovin

Hello, dear friends! Happy weekend to all you!
It has been an unusually hot and humid summer for us this year. It rained a little bit overnight, but we really need a downpour!  Although I like container gardening, this year I had to keep up with watering the containers instead of depending on mother nature. I'm trying to stay indoors most of the time with the A/C running until the evenings when it cools down a little.
I love container gardening! In a confined space they pack a lot of color and texture. When filled with beautiful summer annuals,  they add instant color in any corner of the deck or patio:

I am always on the look out for different ceramic or terracotta pottery, and I have fun planting them with an array of blooms. Here, I stacked these white and blue ceramic pots of different sizes to create a flower tower:

I like the contrast in color between the vibrant pink impatiens and the white ceramic, which has a hint of aqua:

Low-height white glazed pottery filled with a combination of yellow snapdragons, pink verbena, and blue lobelia adorns a corner of my deck:

I love the lacy and delicate look of blue lobelia:

They look so beautiful with the sun shining on the blooms:

The fleur-de-lis makes a pretty garden accent:

Adding accents is the most fun part of decorating, whether indoors or outdoors:

A scrap of cotton fabric with a key design stamped on it becomes a garden tag for the galvanized tub planter:

The chalkboard makes pretty garden plant markers:

A closeup on the garden marker:

The galvanized beverage tub painted with a coat of Rust-Oleum Gloss White is transformed into a Frenchy garden container:

I love how it has the look of French enamelware:

The French script on the front of the tub is found HERE  @ The Graphics Fairy and the method used to apply the image is found HERE  (my decoupaged French pots)

Container gardening is so much fun! I hope you enjoyed taking a peek at some of the containers on my deck. Thanks for the pleasure of your company. Your visits always make me smile!

Happy week to all!

Hugs, Poppy
