With A Stroke Of Paint !

Summer is officially here and that means its time to party! I'm joining the other creative ladies for the summer kick-off party this week starting with Debbiedoo's summer paint projects.

Thanks to this awesome party, all the projects that I've been putting off forever is finally getting done!!! 

I love tole painting, it's my way of relaxing and I feel it is so therapeutic. I took tole painting classes before my blogging days. My attempt at tole painting:

I painted the chair green, distressed it a little to expose the wood, applied the detailing on top and finished it off with a sealer:

 What do you think? Does it look too green? Paint is so forgiving...if I'm not happy with the end result I can always slap on another color! Maybe I should paint the whole thing in white..

Next, comes this metal plant stand. It was a little rusty around the edges. So, I went to work and painted the whole thing in Rust-Oleum Black in a gloss finish:

I love using galvanized buckets and pails as planters. Well, this one has served me well in the past few years looking gorgeous every summer all decked in pink annuals. But it has taken quite a beating over the years as well. 

Looking quite forlorn in this sorry state:

After sanding it down with a medium grain sand paper and thoroughly scrubbing it down, I applied couple coats of Kilz primer. 

Looking better already, don't you think?

Applied a coat of Rust-Oleum White:

Well, it looked too white to me! So I toned it down a wee bit by applying an antiquing medium to it. So this is how it looks now:

Now its time for the fun part. I have to make her look all pretty for this week's party. I decoupaged these beautiful images from The Graphics Fairy and after couple coats of Mod Podge I sealed  the entire thing with a protective finish. 

I decoupaged the same image onto a burlap swatch and made it into a tag for the pail:

Now, she is all ready to party with the others:
