It has been an unusually hot and humid summer for us this year. It rained a little bit overnight, but we really need a downpour! Although I like container gardening, this year I had to keep up with watering the containers instead of depending on mother nature. I'm trying to stay indoors most of the time with the A/C running until the evenings when it cools down a little.
I love container gardening! In a confined space they pack a lot of color and texture. When filled with beautiful summer annuals, they add instant color in any corner of the deck or patio:
I am always on the look out for different ceramic or terracotta pottery, and I have fun planting them with an array of blooms. Here, I stacked these white and blue ceramic pots of different sizes to create a flower tower:
I like the contrast in color between the vibrant pink impatiens and the white ceramic, which has a hint of aqua:
Low-height white glazed pottery filled with a combination of yellow snapdragons, pink verbena, and blue lobelia adorns a corner of my deck:
I love the lacy and delicate look of blue lobelia:
They look so beautiful with the sun shining on the blooms:
Adding accents is the most fun part of decorating, whether indoors or outdoors:

The galvanized beverage tub painted with a coat of Rust-Oleum Gloss White is transformed into a Frenchy garden container:
I love how it has the look of French enamelware:
The French script on the front of the tub is found HERE @ The Graphics Fairy and the method used to apply the image is found HERE (my decoupaged French pots)
Container gardening is so much fun! I hope you enjoyed taking a peek at some of the containers on my deck. Thanks for the pleasure of your company. Your visits always make me smile!
Happy week to all!
Hugs, Poppy

ReplyDeleteSo, so beautiful! Amazing post! Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteYour pretty containers look so pretty overflowing with beautiful flowers. I've done more of that this year too...mainly so the bunnies don't eat my flowers! :-)

Oh, I agree with maureen. I think its looking beautiful. Also, considering you look like a planting diva, could you tell me a few plants that'll do good in shade? I love container gardening but I live in a flat. Would be really helpful!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I do love that french print container - all your containers are beautiful, and the flowers are the icing on the cake! Saw your link at Savvy Southern Style and had to come to see this for myself - simply gorgeous!

ReplyDeletePoppy, I'm visiting from the Home Sweet Home link party and I'm so glad that I checked out your blog! I LOVE your painted galvanized bucket with the french word design. The pots you originally created are gorgeous too. I really like all of your potted plants. I'm not much of a gardener so I always admire other peoples eye for it! Have a wonderful day. ~ Jamie

Love the Frenchy planter! I found your blog through Rooted in Thyme's Sweet & Simple Friday party. I am excited to be a new follower!
ReplyDeleteI love the French planter you created Poppy! Your pots all look lovely. I really like using blue Lobelia also. This year mine got seedy so fast that I had to cut it off. A lot of it just died out after that. Usually I can get it to come back. I have been wanting to try the transfer method but haven't. Think I really need to take time and do it! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

Jann
