Polka Dot Thanksgiving Centerpiece

Hello, dear friends!
Hope the week is going well for you.
Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and I am enjoying sprucing up my home for the upcoming holiday.
So, I thought I will share with you my Thanksgiving centerpiece that I am planning to use on my buffet table.

Supplies needed:
Pumpkins of various sizes
Acrylic Metallic Gold paint
Sponge Brush
Round Stickers

For the polka dot pumpkin, I borrowed some round stickers from my kids and placed them randomly on the surface of the pumpkin. Then, I applied two coats of gold metallic paint all over the pumpkin.. I let the paint dry overnight and peeled off the stickers from the pumpkin, and
 voila!

Love the way the polka dotted pumpkin turned out!

I removed the top of the bigger of the three pumpkins, painted it with the same metallic gold paint. Then, I used the painted pumpkin as a vase filled with silk florals.
I like how the gold contrasts so beautifully with the autumn flowers!

The warm glow of candlelight creates a magical ambience
and a perfect setting for an elegant dinner.

I am looking forward to using these painted pumpkins as a centerpiece on my buffet table.

Thanks for stopping by today!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs, Poppy

Hi I am back!

Hello, dear friends!
I am missed you so dearly!
And, I have missed writing my little blog.

I apologize to my faithful readers for my long hiatus. For the past few months, I have been dealing with some health issues,  including an emergency room visit and severe anemia. I have been slowly recuperating since then and hoping for a full recovery.
My heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful emails and get well wishes you guys have been sending me. I appreciate your kind wishes and prayers.
It feels wonderful to write my blog again especially with the holiday season just 'round the corner. I am looking forward to celebrating, entertaining, and decorating!

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Halloween!

Decorating the Kitchen Window Sill

Hello, everyone!
Summer is officially here, and I am looking forward to all the fun summer activities and adding summery touches throughout my home.
I love adding seasonal changes to the kitchen window sill to liven up my kitchen.
There are two big casement style windows in my kitchen that allows plenty of natural light into the room.

One of the windows is right above the kitchen sink with a wide sill that provides plenty of space for me to decorate, create vignettes, and brighten up my day while doing the mundane task of washing dishes.

Pretty yellow pansies in blue willow tea cups make a beautiful display.

I placed the tea cups on these pillar pedestals to add height to the vignette.
Click HERE for the tutorial to make these functional wooden pedestals.

Love the contrast in color between the blue willow of the transferware tea cups and pretty yellow pansies.

On my last trip to Home Goods, I was happy to find this over-sized galvanized bucket.

Love the rope handle detail and how the fern looks inside the bucket.

A pair of hen and rooster is perfect for a summer kitchen vignette.

I placed the pansies in peat pots for easy watering.

The peat pots were then placed inside the cup.

The blue willow tea cup makes a pretty vase, don't you think?

I hope you liked taking a peek at my kitchen window sill all decorated for the summer.

A Spring Tea Tray Vignette

Hello, friends!
Have you been enjoying the beautiful spring weather?
I love the earthy smell of spring! Signs of springs are every where in my yard. The apples trees and the dapples willows in the backyard are beginning to show signs of budding. In a few weeks time, the bare leafless branches will be overflowing with lush greenery. I am looking forward to the fragrant apple blossoms and bringing them inside to enjoy their beauty indoors as well.

Today, I am sharing a tea tray vignette I put together that reminds me of the beautiful spring weather surrounding us at this time of the year:

Spring is here.
Spring is here.
How do you think I know?

I just saw a little white bird.
That is how I know.

The merry birds on twig and branch
Trill out the news with fluttering wings,

While Robin seeks the early fruit,
Impatient watching the green shoot,
And the glad tidings gaily sings. ~Mary Dow Brine.

April showers bring May flowers,
That what they say.
But if all the showers turned to flowers,
We'd have quite a colorful day!

You'd see tiger lilies and water lilies,
Carnations pink and blue,
Forget-me-nots and small sundrops
Glistening with the dew.

And if all the showers turned to flowers
On that rainy April day,
Would all the flowers turn to showers
In the sunny month of May?~ Karen Chappell

The Spring Song~Robert Louis Stevenson
The air was full of sun and birds,
The fresh air sparkled clearly.

Remembrance wakened in my heart
And I knew I loved her dearly.

The fallows and the leafless trees
And all my spirit tingled.

My earliest thought of love, and Spring's
First puff of perfume mingled.

I love the romantic ambiance created by these moss-wrapped candle votives. It reminds me of taking a long walk down a moss-covered garden path.

For the moss-wrapped candle votives, I simply hot-glued green sheet moss from the craft store  around clear glass votives and trimmed the excess moss from the top and bottom.

After that, I wrapped some burlap twine around each votive and inserted mini terracotta clay pots inside the glass votives to hold the candles.

I love using pretty, dainty tea cups like this for tea time and brunches in spring and summer.

Pretty gold detailing all around the rim of this beautiful footed tea cup.

Happy Spring!
