Upcycling Wine Bottles

I love decorating with bottles of any shape and color. Using empty wine bottles around the house and accessorizing them is a great way to recycle them. They make beautiful accents! Don't you agree?
Soaking them in a bucket of warm water makes it easier to remove the labels from the bottles. Some labels may require longer soaking than others:
I like decorating my home in Tuscan and French style, and the fleur de lis is one of my favorite accents to use around the house. This finial graces one of the niches in the family room:

They make wonderful tags for the bottles:
Click HERE to see how I made the decoupaged tags. I found the French script background for the tags: HERE
I hot glued the webbing around the middle of the bottle, overlapping the edges:
I re-sized the fleur de lis image from the The Graphics Fairy in Microsoft Word and after cutting it out, I used it as a paper template for cutting out a similar image from a sheet of cork board purchased at the craft store. The paper template is glued to the cork using a glue-stick that prevents it from moving while cutting the cork.
The cork fleur de lis cutouts were then painted with black craft paint:
The cutouts were then hot glued to the webbing. Applying the hot glue to the webbing instead of the cork helps it adhere better:
I like how the fleur de lis of the finial is repeated on the bottles:
Filled with few sprigs of faux apple blossoms, they make a wonderful statement. Don't you think?

I wish I could use real apple blossoms from the apple trees in my backyard, but looks like I have to wait few more weeks for mother nature to reward us with her bounty:

For the base  I used a cork bulletin board:

I love the detailing of this white wooden frame:
The board was then lined with sheet moss with a few rocks and grapevine balls scattered around:

So,what you think? Is this a good way to upcycle empty bottles:

An Easter Tea

It has been a cold and cloudy weekend in this neck of the woods. We were having such wonderful spring weather, with the exception of this weekend. All my yard work has been put on hold due to the incessant rain for the last couple of days. Hopefully, it will improve for the better with plenty of sunshine! How is your weekend going?

Before I go any further with this post, I would like to thank Judy at DIY by Design for featuring my Chalkboard Tags: Here
If you are looking for inspiring home decor ideas, do pay Judy a visit and you won't be disappointed! Or maybe you want to join  others to showcase your latest creative projects and ideas at her weekly: Swing into Spring Party that opens up on Tuesday nights.

Please join me for some tea and cupcakes as I celebrate spring indoors:

Pink and blue frosting in lovely spring colors:
I love the hand painted  look and the subtle colors of this Noritake china pattern, perfect for serving the cupcakes. Don't you agree?
Wrapped around these dessert plates and tied with raffia, the wired moss ribbons bring the outdoors in:
I love these moss ribbons sold in rolls at craft stores. They have a wire backing and can be used in so many different ways:
Don't you just love the cute bunny peeking through:
He looks like he can't wait to hop outside and hopes for the rain to stop. My feelings exactly!
I decoupaged the peat pots with sheet music from The Graphics Fairy:
After saving the sheet music in my computer, I edited it (at Pixlr) from an antique color to white:
There are so many helpful tutorials all over blogland about how to print images on to tissue paper. I cut the tissue paper slightly larger than a regular cardstock paper:
Then, I taped the tissue paper to the card stock paper, made sure all the edges are smooth and straight to prevent the printer from getting jammed, and printed the image on an ink-jet printer.  After printing, I gently removed the tapes to prevent the thin tissue paper from ripping. The cardstock paper can be reused for future projects:
I painted the peat pots with a lighter craft paint since the tissue paper is transparent, and I didn't want the brown color of the pots showing through:
Then I decoupaged the tissue paper image onto the peatpots:
I love how they turned out:
Unpainted wooden eggs went from this:
To this:
I mod-podged the tissue paper butterfly images from The Graphics Fairy after painting the eggs with different colored craft paints:

A butterfly that likes a green egg:

This little one likes an egg with a script on it:
And has a passion for music too:
The pink and the blue ones are catching up on the latest news:
Meanwhile, this one is eyeing the yummy cupcake:
But they are all happy in the garden together:

They are having fun at this tea party:
And they are so glad that you stopped by:
Thank you for your visit! I enjoy the pleasure of your company and love reading each and every one of your sweet notes! I hope you enjoyed my whimsical spring post:) Please stop by and say hello any time!
Happy Easter everyone!
